Márta Kucsora - Hullámtér
Márta Kucsora is already well-known within Hungary’s art circles as the painter of water. We may see many pictures of hers depicting the element of water from various aspects. In the exhibition of last September, entitled Flow Art, her paintings focused more on a meditative world beneath the water’s surface, but this time the viewer is confronted with a more dynamic world within a powerful format.
Marta Kucsora’s paintings represent a cross between the abstract and imaging. The artist pours and splatters the paint on the canvas and lets the material stream, thus creating a balance between her preliminary visual ideas and mere chance. She directs the paint and then puts its flow to a halt in the exact right moment, so as to conserve the expressive force of the motive and the movement’s momentum.
In their technical solutions the exhibited paintings are fascinating, but it is also striking that the pictures are more or less made in pairs, in a free interpretation, meaning a dialogue between male and female energies, reflecting the eternal struggle between the two.
